We now have an excellent opportunity for you to join the London Office as an Underwriting Risk & Control Manager.

Main Purpose of the Role

You will be joining a high performing Risk and Compliance team, tasked with helping Gen Re manage underwriting risk. You will quickly take ownership of key components of the Gen Re Underwriting Control Framework, working with underwriting teams to continually enhance the underwriting process and acting as the second line of defence on underwriting topics.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the annual review and update of key components of the Underwriting Control Framework
• Help develop and maintain key underwriting guideline documents and policies
• Support underwriters in understanding and implementing the Gen Re Underwriting Control Framework
• Collaborate with underwriting teams on Underwriter Peer Reviews, ensuring review activities are delivered in line with agreed scope and timelines
• Support quarterly Risk & Control Assessments and contribute to Risk Management reporting on incident and near-miss events
• Prepare reporting content to various risk committee and governance forums
• Coordinate responses to risk-related regulatory information requests and obligations (such as SOX compliance audits or delivery against the principles of doing business at Lloyd’s)
• Contribute to other key activities of the Gen Re and Faraday Risk Management team outside of underwriting
• Support Group Enterprise Risk Management initiatives as required

Qualifications & Experience

• A relevant professional qualification or proven knowledge of insurance sufficient to be able to fulfil the above responsibilities
• Experience of working within underwriting, pricing or exposure management
• Alternatively, experience working in an assurance role with a deep technical understanding of underwriting risk
• Knowledge of the insurance industry, including regulatory frameworks
• Highly organised and able to work independently
• Strong attention to detail
• Team player and ability to manage key relationships
• Good verbal and written communication skills
