Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

An inclusive and supportive primary school in Chelmsford is seeking a confident and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September. You will play a vital role in supporting learning across the school, covering classes when required, leading small group interventions, and working closely with teachers to raise pupil achievement.

Previous experience working as a HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant confident covering classes.

Strong understanding of the primary curriculum across EYFS, KS1, or KS2.

Ability to confidently deliver planned lessons and interventions in the absence of the class teacher.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.

Flexibility, initiative, and a proactive approach to supporting learning.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Leading small group and individual interventions to raise pupil attainment.

Covering classes when teachers are absent, delivering pre-planned lessons confidently.

Supporting teachers in preparing learning materials and managing the classroom environment.

Assisting in the assessment and recording of pupils’ progress.

Providing targeted support for children with additional needs to help them access learning.

Maintaining a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere at all times.
