Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist

Join our dedicated respiratory team as a Band 6 Respiratory Nurse Specialist and make a real difference to patients' lives across North Devon.

You'll deliver expert, patient-centred care to people with complex respiratory conditions such as TB, ILD, OSA and Type 2 respiratory failure - helping them stay well and out of hospital. Working both independently and as a part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, you'll have opportunities to expand your skills, lead on innovative care, and contribute to research and service development within a progressive, forward thinking Trust.

More details about the role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Respiratory Nurse Specialist within the respiratory service at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Trust: Northern services (North Devon District Hospital).

The successful candidate will work across both community and acute settings and will be responsible for managing a caseload of patients with a range of respiratory conditions. You will deliver high-quality, evidence-based care and effective disease management to support patients with complex needs.

The post holder will be expected to provide expert nursing care for patients with Tuberculosis (TB), Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), Type 2 Respiratory Failure and those requiring oxygen therapy.

The role will involve delivering comprehensive disease management to help avoid hospital admissions where possible and reviewing patients on the wards with a view to reduce length of stay. There is a requirement for the candidate to be able to work autonomously.

The role requires good organisational and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with integrated care partners and as an integral member of the team.

There is strong support from experienced members of the team, respiratory consultants and advanced clinical practitioners. The role provides valuable opportunities to develop clinical and management skills, whilst contributing to audits and research.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Monday 08:00-16:00 (Flexible hours will be considered upon request)
