This post is based offshore on a 2/3 rotation.
JOB TITLE: MARINE TECHNICIAN
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take personal responsibility for safety and adhere to Petrofac’s Life Saving Rules.
- Live our Petrofac Values and apply them in day-to-day work.
- Participate in the annual performance review process, completing meaningful scorecards through SMART objectives and completing reviews in line with the company-driven timeframe.
- Be accountable to the Marine Supervisor (TSS) for the safe operation of Marine Systems.
- Stand-in for Marine Supervisor (TSS) when required to do so.
- Assist with Deck Duties as required by Marine Supervisor (TSS).
- Perform routine and non-routine (Front Line) Maintenance tasks on Marine Systems, Safety systems, Utilities systems, recording history and reporting defects.
- Prepare and reinstate equipment requiring intrusive and non-intrusive maintenance.
- Control work and activities in your area of responsibility including auditing.
- Raise any non-conformance to supervisor in a timely fashion.
- Perform Emergency Response duties as detailed for the position (Coxswain, HDA, etc.).
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Relevant qualification: MCA Officer of the Watch (Deck) CoC.
- Dangerous Cargo Endorsement (Oil).
- Previous Oil Tanker &/or FPSO Marine Experience in a similar role.
- OPITO Coxswain, Heli-Deck, Rigging or Load Handler qualifications desirable.
- Strong understanding of Ship Stability and Cargo Operations.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic when working as part of a team or on own initiative.
- Use skills and experience to contribute to problem solving and improvements.
- Emergency Response role certification or willingness to train.
- Prepared to act as Lifeboat Coxswain and/or Heli-Deck assistant.
- Willing to acquire Marine/Deck Qualifications as per Training Matrix.
- Flexible and willing to cover absences within Department when required.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to Safe Working Practices.
- Clear, fluent, and expressive verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to guide and motivate co-workers.
- Good PC literacy and familiarity with MS Office.
- Experience as Chief Officer or Second Officer on Merchant Navy Vessels or relevant Marine Capacity on an FPSO.
- Valid MCA Certificate of Competency (Deck).
- Experience with Dangerous Cargoes (Crude or Product Oil Tankers).
- Experience with Tanker Marine Systems (Cargo & Ballast).
- Experience with Isolations of Marine Systems (Cargo & Ballast).
- Preferable: experience with other FPSOs, C.O.W, Inert Gas Generators, FRAMO hydraulic systems, Offloading equipment, Stability Computers, and Maximo.
- Preferable: experience with ISSOW (Electronic Permit to Work) system.
- Preferable: experience with Deck Cargo Handling (Supply Vessels, Bunkering fluids, etc.).
