Applications are invited from enthusiastic, suitably qualified individuals to provide a daily secretarial support service within the Histopathology department at South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology.

The post holder will offer a range of administrative and secretarial support in this busy and interesting department.

The successful candidate will have effective secretarial and computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should be able to work independently to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, while also working effectively as part of a team.

Full in-service training will be provided. The successful candidate will be based in the Histopathology Secretary office at The Royal Hallamshire Hospital, with potential travel to other sites.

The South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Pathology Partnership fully integrates pathology services across the Partner Trusts within the Integrated Care System (ICS) footprint, including:

  • Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust
  • Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing efficient secretarial support within the Histopathology department and to Consultant Histopathologists.
  • Assisting with Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) preparation.
  • Carrying out routine administrative duties, ensuring standards are maintained and deadlines are met.
  • Being the first point of contact for all enquiries, including telephone inquiries, and acting on them appropriately.
