Applications are invited for the position of SCD Intelligence Support Officer within the Intelligence Bureau at Chelmsford Police Station, Essex or Northfleet, Kent. This is a home‑based role with a requirement to attend the office roughly once per week.

This is a versatile role focused on assessing threat, harm, and risk through intelligence, while also identifying opportunities for proactive policing.

The work may be fast‑paced in response to live incidents or conducted over longer periods. It demands meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of intelligence, as well as effective linking and research of reports.

The role supports partner agencies such as Probation and there is a requirement to complete in depth research for intelligence requests from these agencies.

At shortlisting we will be looking for essential evidence of:

  • Your ability to make informed decisions, ensuring tasks are completed to high standards and service delivery is maintained.
  • Openness and positivity to changing ideas, perceptions, and ways of working. Reflects on own way of working and seeks feedback to improve performance.
  • Personal motivation and drive, excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to form strong working relationships with colleagues.
  • Understanding of the importance for data quality and takes a pro‑active approach to recording and maintaining accurate records.

In addition, good IT Skills are desirable, as the role requires the use of various IT applications.

The full‑time post holder will be required to work a shift pattern Monday to Friday between 0730‑1800 (0730‑1530 and 1000‑1800 on alternating weeks) and weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

Kent Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £31,731.00.
