Main duties of the job

We are looking for a motivated and skilled Locum Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. You will have the opportunity to shape the development of future doctors and anaesthetists by supervising and teaching undergraduates and anaesthesia residents. The Trust provides opportunities to support established research within your job plan.

Job responsibilities

This 10 PA/week locum appointment supports the current anaesthetics team of over 150 Consultants for six months. The core purpose is to work alongside consultant colleagues to deliver a comprehensive anaesthetic service while actively supporting the speciality's service plans by embracing changes in clinical practice and new technologies. A key responsibility includes engaging with and advancing Clinical Governance initiatives.

The appointee will maintain and contribute to existing teaching and research activities, such as supervising resident doctors and undergraduate students. The role includes 8.5 PAs of direct clinical care and 1.5 PAs for professional activities, delivered within a carefully designed rota. Your job plan will be reviewed annually, with interim reviews as needed. You will report managerially to the Chief Executive and professionally to the Chief Medical Officer.
