A well-established machine tool supplier is seeking an apprentice-trained Applications Engineer (or CNC Programmer / Machinist) to join its experienced field-based training and applications engineering team.
This role would suit someone from within the machine tool or precision engineering sector who enjoys customer interaction, technical problem-solving, and hands‑on machine work. Experience across turning and milling is highly desirable.
Working nationwide, you will support customers across a broad range of CNC machine tools, delivering training, applications support, and technical guidance both pre‑and post‑sale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Training customers on the use of CNC machine tools
- Supporting customers to maximise machine capability and performance
- Demonstrating machines pre‑and post‑sale
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
- Providing technical support to customers and internal teams
- Feeding back technical issues and best‑practice improvements
- Recommending process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Completed a minimum 4-year engineering apprenticeship
- Strong background in CNC programming and machining
- Comfortable working hands‑on with machine tools
- Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills
- Experience with turning and milling machines preferred
- Exposure to ProtoTRAK® and/or Siemens controls beneficial (training provided)
- Willing to travel nationwide, including occasional nights away
- Structured onboarding and initial training at a UK headquarters location
