Project Development Manager - Hydrogen

Oxfordshire Office Location

6 month contract - £600 - 700 per day.

Piper Maddox are currently working alongside a hugely exciting developer and constructor of hydrogen production infrastructure. Stemming from an established parent company and a renowned investment firm, this joint venture company are at the forefront of a rapidly expanding industry.

Our client is committed to delivering close to 1GW of hydrogen production projects through the development process and then completing the construction phase, finishing up with an operational asset. As an industry, Hydrogen is crucial to providing emission-less, efficient, and cost effective power to the UK grid.

This company has partnerships with businesses who also cover the hydrogen market for public transport, industrial freight, hydrogen injection into the grid, as well as energy storage. You would be contributing to a varied and innovative pipeline of hydrogen projects within a well funded and stable business group.

They are looking at adding an experienced Development Project Manager to their team to drive forward their pipeline of hydrogen projects through the development phase and into the construction element. You would have a high level of influence in project strategy and how to best go about moving your portfolio forward.

This role would suit someone with strong experience in developing clean energy projects - either with direct experience with hydrogen projects, or with transferrable experience in renewable energy projects (Solar, BESS, or Onshore Wind). Your role would surround managing the development process from inception through to RTB and handing over to the construction team.

Strong experience here would include - experience in managing and coordinating the planning/consents process, overseeing a smooth grid application process, as well as ensuring project viability both commercially and financially throughout. Another strong skillset to have would be experience liaising with DSO’s and TSO’s within your project background. Another desirable skillset would be someone who has experience working in a full scale power producer where you have experience managing projects in both the development and deliver phases.

• Drive forward the portfolio of hydrogen projects through the development phase and into construction.
• Manage the development process from inception through to ready-to-build (RTB) and handover to the construction team.
• Coordinate planning and consents, and oversee a smooth grid application process.
• Assess and ensure commercially and financially viable project outcomes.
• Liaise with Distribution System Operators (DSOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) as part of project delivery.
• Contribute to project strategy and influence how the portfolio progresses.
• Work in a role that spans development and delivery phases within a full-scale power producer environment.

• Strong experience in developing clean energy projects, with direct hydrogen experience or transferable experience in renewables (Solar, BESS, Onshore Wind).
• Proven ability to manage planning/consents and grid/DSO-TSO interactions.
• Experience ensuring project viability (commercial and financial) throughout the development lifecycle.
