The Role : How you'll make an impact at Personio

This position can be hybrid office-based from one of the following countries : Germany, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, or the UK.

To support us on this journey and fuel our growth, Personio is seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Counsel, someone ambitious and genuine, who works best in the midst of a collaborative and forward-thinking team. You will report into the Senior Managing Product Counsel and you will play a key role in shaping and scaling our legal product offering, ensuring compliance with regulations and providing valuable legal and compliance solutions to our business and customers. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive the development and enhancement of our product offering. Role Responsibilities : What you'll do

• You will act as a legal business partner for Product and Engineering throughout the product development lifecycle to proactively identify legal issues and provide practical advice to support innovation at Personio.
• You will manage Personio’s day-to-day product queries, ensuring that scalable advice is always at the forefront by drafting and managing the implementation of FAQs, guidelines and training materials.
• You will advise on compliance with marketing and advertising laws in our key countries to support our Marketing and Sales teams to ensure that when we launch a product, add a feature, or make public claims about Personio, we do so in line with our legal obligations.
• You will work closely with our Partnerships team to negotiate, draft and advise on new partnerships that add value to Personio.
• You will support Personio’s brand by advising on intellectual property matters.
• You will apply your knowledge of EU and UK privacy laws to identify possible privacy risks at different stages of the product development lifecycle and embed a ‘privacy by design’ mindset.
• You will stay informed about emerging legal trends including developments in technology, employment law, privacy and artificial intelligence by enabling stakeholders through continuous training and education.

Role Requirements : What you need to succeed

• Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 7 years’ experience at a law firm or in-house legal department with a focus on product counselling, privacy and technology.
• Advanced legal knowledge of technology legal issues including intellectual property, privacy, commercial, regulatory compliance, and application of new laws (experience of advising on artificial intelligence is a plus) in the EU and UK.
• Advanced capability to quickly and independently analyse complex legal issues, evaluate key risks and make clear recommendations to support product development.
• Able to own and independently manage projects / multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
• Expertise in Jira, GSuite, and other legal tools with advanced knowledge of legal processes to optimise processes for scalability and make recommendations.
• Ability to build trust with and influence cross-functional groups of stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in the preparation of documentation.
• Fluent written and spoken English; German or further European languages are a plus.
