Our Chalk River location is looking for a Facility Manager, Tritium Facility & Catalytic Exchange Upgrading and Detritiation (CECEUD) Test Facility to support our Licensed Nuclear Facilities Department. What will you be doing!

• Ensuring the day-to-day safe operation and use of the Facility are in accordance with established policies and procedures, including the License, Facility GDI, Conduct of Operations Procedure, and the FA.
• Maintaining and approving changes to safety system test frequencies and test procedures.
• Approving non-routine operations, experiments, and facility modifications.
• Approving and implementing the Facility GDI and Conduct of Operations procedures, operating procedures, and work control procedures.
• Managing the emergency response function within the Facility.
• Ensuring that the minimum staffing for all operations is maintained.
• Ensuring compliance with the requirements of all HSSE&Q programs.
• Facilitating nuclear criticality safety panel approvals for Facility Operations Criticality Safety.
• Documenting and ensuring compliance with its contents.
• Executing various work control and work execution functions in the Facility.
• Providing Facility authorization for Integrated Work Control (IWC).
• Ensuring that the Facility and equipment are in an appropriate state for safe operations and maintenance, before allowing work to proceed.

• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

• Education
  • At minimum, a Bachelor's (Honours) degree in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing, or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.
• Experience
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience in the nuclear field.
  • Experience in a glovebox facility or with nuclear fuel fabrication is an asset.
  • Experience in an operating licensed nuclear facility is a significant asset.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must have sound judgment as demonstrated by a conservative approach toward nuclear and personnel safety, logical and conservative decision-making, and a willingness to “Stop Work” in unsafe or uncertain situations.
  • Must have a proven track record as a strong leader, with the ability to motivate team members.
  • Commitment to CNL vision and operating philosophies.
  • High personal standards of performance and commitment to the safe operation of the facility.
  • Knowledge of nuclear operations is an asset.
  • Knowledge of safe handling practices for alpha radiation is an asset.
  • Knowledge of MOX or other nuclear fuel fabrication is an asset.
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Location:

This role is a fully onsite role that requires the employee to primarily work at CNL’s Chalk River Laboratory site, with only occasional opportunities to work remotely, if desired by the employee.
