Qualifications

Job description

As a Regulated Heath Professional under the Regulated Health Professions Act, Pharmacy Technicians will provide services within their scope of practice in collaboration with and under the guidance of Registered Pharmacists.

Duties
  • All aspects of Pharmacy Technician tasks as defined in the NAPRA Standards Practice for Pharmacy Technician practice from the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Understand and operate Meditech and Kroll Pharmacy software, Omnicell XT, OCRA, PacMed, and all systems supporting the dispensing and distribution function.
  • Participate in the distribution process and Pharmacy support responsibilities.
  • Participate in Medication Reconciliation Activities.
  • Packaging and delivery of pharmaceutical products to patient care units or other facilities as needed; may require lifting boxes of varying weights ranging from 1‑20 lbs.
  • Packaging, preparation and ensuring shipment of products as required.
  • Communicate performance and quality standards expectations to fellow teammates (technicians and Pharmacy support personnel).
  • Ensure the proper flow and documentation of prescription distribution is followed at all times.
  • Ensure appropriate quality controls are in place and communicate to pharmacy teams and facility partners in situations in which quality may have been compromised.
  • Utilize good communication skills and possess the ability to multi-task.
  • Carry out duties according to procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Be responsible for the accurate and timely completion of daily job duties and responsibilities.
  • Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of the Royal.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable, accessible vehicle required.
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
