• Acts as Instrumentation and Control team lead for feasibility and concept study, pre-FEED, FEED, basic engineering, and tender design for the assigned projects.
• Acts as Instrumentation and Control team lead on the detailed engineering project for the assigned projects.
• Reviews ITT documents, prepares TQs, technical inputs, and man-hour estimates for proposals.
• Prepares/reviews technical queries and actively participates in data gathering from clients.
• Ensures all Instrumentation and Control engineering deliverables are prepared and issued in adherence with project schedule, tender requirements, fit for purpose, and quality, completing the project within budgeted hours.
• Proactively analyzes and identifies design/constructability issues, schedule impacts, design variations with tender documentation, long delivery items, etc., and informs the project manager/team.
• Has effective design and implementation knowledge of various automation systems (PLC, DCS, ESD, IPS, FGS, FACP, HIPPS, LDS, RTU, and SCADA) and prepares applicable project documentation.
• Possesses good design/application knowledge of various instrument types and latest state-of-the-art technologies, selecting suitable instruments based on techno-commercial evaluation.
• Prepares documentation such as Design Basis, Specifications, Reports, Scope of Works, Philosophies, Method of Statements, Datasheets, Material Requisitions, Calculations, I/O Lists, Instrument Index, schedules, Cause and Effects, and material take-offs.
• Provides inputs and reviews engineering drawings, including Control System Architecture, Cable Block Diagram, Instrument/Telecom Location and Cable Routing Layouts, Cable & JB Schedules, Control/Equipment Room Layouts, Instrument Installation Details, Process/Pneumatic Hook-Ups, MCT layouts, Interconnection Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, Fieldbus Segment Diagrams, PFDs/P&IDs, General Arrangements, and Plot Plans, with a clear understanding of project scope, design, and constructability issues.
• Carries out sizing calculations for control valves, flow meters, pneumatic/hydraulic power systems, instrument cable voltage drop, and intrinsically safe circuits, as applicable.
• Actively participates in workshops such as Design Review, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, Constructability Reviews, and provides closure to instrumentation and control-related actions.
• Ensures correct input data, codes, and standards are used and adhered to.
• Conducts site visits to client facilities as required, including site surveys and data collection, and system adequacy checks.
• Coordinates the preparation, quality control, internal quality procedures, approval, issue, and client approval of instrumentation and control engineering documents and drawings.
• Ensures all instrumentation and control deliverables are aligned with other disciplines such as process, piping, electrical, civil, and structural.
• Reviews interdisciplinary documents thoroughly and manages changes within the discipline, communicating them to other disciplines if affected.
• Familiarizes designers with the project scope to ensure full compliance with project requirements in drawings and details.
• Liaises with designers and provides inputs for 3D model preparation.
• Supervises a team of instrumentation and control engineers, performing technical reviews and ensuring design quality and compliance with standards and best practices.
• Coordinates and monitors instrumentation and control design and engineering with EPC contractors to meet project expectations within the schedule.
• Works with other discipline engineers, vendors, and clients to resolve technical issues and ensure engineering integrity.
• Contributes to the development and analysis of design options and business models for optimization and validation.
• Maintains client schedules and ensures timely feedback from EPC contractors.
• Represents the client on and off-site as appropriate.
• Performs technical evaluations of bids, issues bid clarifications, and provides evaluation reports and recommendations.
• Participates in meetings such as HAZID, design reviews, and technical workshops.
• Attends FAT/SAT, undertakes business trips, and site visits.
• Provides on-site engineering support during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning, including witnessing and sign-off activities.
• Manages change requests, scope, and design variations for approval.
• Coordinates internal interfaces with project managers and engineering managers.
• Provides technical guidance and training to junior engineers to ensure schedule adherence and quality.
• Attends client and third-party meetings and company training courses.
• Adheres to the company's QHSE policies and procedures.

• Strong technical knowledge in instrumentation and control disciplines.
• Strong design and analytical skills with problem-solving ability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
• Experience designing automation systems (PLC, DCS, etc.), field instrumentation, and preparing project documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under tight schedules in a team environment.
• Teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with international codes, standards, and company standards.
• 15–18 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in feasibility studies, conceptual, pre-FEED, and FEED design in natural gas and/or crude oil processing plants as a lead engineer.
• At least 2 years of experience as a lead engineer with ADNOC offshore.
• Educational background: BS or equivalent in Electronics, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering from an accredited university; postgraduate degree is an advantage.
