About the job Accountant

Branch Accountant

Seeking an experienced accountant with knowledge of Sage Evolution; retail experience will be highly advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties:

1. Reconcile all bank accounts between our systems and the bank statement.
2. Responsible for the general ledger.
3. Bookkeeping to trial balance.
4. Ensure sound integration from the retail system to Sage Evolution.
5. Process information that does not integrate from the retail system (Arch) in Sage Evolution.
6. Master data management in Sage Evolution / Arch.
7. Leave cover rotation of duties within the group finance department.
8. Support for auditors with respect to VAT/PAYE Payroll entries.
9. Annual audit preparation and support.
10. Oversee cash office change orders and float counts.
11. Review supplier payment reconciliations.
12. Key focus areas:
    • Appropriate control over bank and cash reconciliations.
    • Bookkeeping to trial balance.

Multi-skilled cover of responsibilities in the financial departments.

Desired Experience & Qualification

1. 10 years + in a similar environment.
2. Willing to work in an open plan office.
3. Comfortable to work directly with the directors in an owner-managed business.
4. Formal B Com Degree/Articles will be advantageous, but we seek experience and maturity.
5. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
6. Own reliable transport.
7. Non-smoker.
