SplashOut has an exciting opportunity available for a Production Manager (Signage) to be based in Umhlanga, Durban. The successful incumbent will be responsible foreffectively and efficiently manage the Signage Production teams. Ensure that there is compliance with all policies and procedures and strict adherence to internal controls. Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reporting is done accurately and timeously and contains appropriate content to enable effective decision making. Ensure maintenance and upkeep of the company’s machinery using the most cost-efficient maintenance processes. Ensure achievement of company’s strategic objectives, goal plans and targets. Support the management team by attending to adhoc requests.

Minimum requirements

  • 5 years management/supervisory experience in digital printing and signage production environment
  • 5 years practical experience in a digital printing and signage production environment

Responsibilities:

Financial metrics

  • Review of daily, weekly, monthly reports from the Signage teams as well as reports.
  • Ensure most efficient maintenance and planning solutions to minimize the company’s internal cost and company downtime.
  • Management and Review of the wastage within each job.
  • Ensure appropriate templates and models are created and saved to substantiate decision making.
  • Effective management of the machinery using quality control checks, aging, running cost etc.
  • Establish/implement internal controls to maintain and improve productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Identifying weakness accompanied by timeous corrective action.
  • Management of operating costs and stock management.
  • Assist with Site meetings and Key Accounts management when needed.
  • When preferred suppliers are used quarterly tender process must be completed and records filed.
  • Forecasting/planning according to customer demands/events.
  • Effective management of the Signage Team. This includes Shift management.
  • Managing all production both internal and external.
  • Quality Control checks of prints, vehicle prints, internal and external signage / fabrication
  • Ensure quotations are correct before submission.
  • Overall Management of the print room and Signage Team through the Production Team Leader and installation Manager.
  • Management oversight and strict quality of vehicle branding/application.
  • Professional customer interaction with the highest integrity.
  • Effective Stock Management

People

  • Creation and maintenance of roles and job descriptions and KPIs for your direct reports.
  • Performance management of staff and disciplinary.
  • Establishing direct reports KPIs including updating these as the business evolves.
  • Enforcing ethical, honest, transparent, fair work environment.
  • Sourcing of training as and when needed for your teams.
  • Formal setting up of individual staff meetings. (Initial meeting to layout the KPIs, quarterly tracking meeting, half year review, quarterly tracking meeting and year-end review).
  • Adequate recognition of staff efforts.
  • Talent retention (through role creation, career path planning).
  • Succession planning.
  • Sustainable morale and team building.
  • Ethics and fraud workshops.
  • Recruitment and related interviews.
  • Induction and comfort for new team members.
  • Appropriate and fair leave planning, less than 30 days.
  • Monitoring of sick leave.
  • Approval of leave, bio time, phone usage.
  • Implementation of HR initiatives.
  • Monitoring of employee productivity and smoke breaks.
  • Monitoring of overtime.

Compliance, risk and quality

  • Creation and review of customer feedback assessment on Team members.
  • 100% compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintenance of department process write-ups/ system descriptions and quarterly updating.
  • Ensure logical saving of all work, templates, etc. monthly and yearly such that each year’s financial records can stand on its own when enquiries/ investigations/audits take place.
  • Produce high quality, neat, logical, succinct, easy to follow, easy to understand, formula linked work/templates/workbooks/financial models - of which is substantiated by facts with no numbers in the formulas.
  • Ensure the above (final version) and other documents are chronologically saved/backed up.
  • Quarterly updating of risk assessments.

Growth and new markets/products

  • Supplier relationship management.
  • New service offerings/ products directly related to Signage/Design.
  • Ensure measures are put in place and steps are taken to achieve the short term, medium term and long-term goals of the company.
  • Competitor intelligence and remain in touch with new signage solutions/new technology.
