Job summary
A financial services firm based in Gauteng, South Africa, is seeking an experienced accounting professional to assist with payroll administration, preparation of financial statements, and compliance reporting. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience, a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and strong analytical and communication skills. This role requires a good understanding of accounting principles and tax laws, coupled with proficiency in relevant accounting software.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of tax laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with payroll administration and verify employee timesheets.
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Process and track invoices and payments.
- Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Skills
Education
- Assisting with payroll administration, including verifying employee timesheets and calculating payroll.
- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Processing and tracking invoices, receipts, purchase orders and processing payments.
- Assisting with payroll and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Performing bank reconciliations and other necessary reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Assisting with compliance reporting and ensuring adherence to accounting standard.
- Supporting the month-end and year-end closing processes, including ensuring proper accounting and reporting procedures are followed.
- At least 2 years in similar role or experience.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements.
- Analytic skills and good understanding of basic bookkeeping principles.
- Managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standard.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Basic understanding of tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
