Job summary
A leading automotive company in Durban is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to troubleshoot, service, and repair vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a Grade 12 certificate, an N3, and a Diesel Mechanic trade test certificate. Experience in the heavy commercial vehicle industry is essential, along with strong communication skills and a pro-active, customer-focused approach. Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in heavy commercial vehicle industry.
- 3 years experience with MAN and/or VW heavy commercial vehicles.
- 1 year experience with MAN CATS 3.
Responsibilities
- Accurately diagnose faults on vehicles.
- Carry out servicing and repairs efficiently.
- Conduct road tests on repaired vehicles.
- Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and security procedures.
- Report vehicle faults beyond the job card.
- Service vehicles according to MAN specifications.
Skills
Education
Location: KwaZulu-Natal, Durban
- Accurately diagnose faults found and reported on a vehicle (troubleshooting).
- Carry out servicing and repairs to vehicles in an efficient manner.
- Conduct road tests on repaired vehicles as and when needed.
- Ensure workshop quality, safety and security procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Report any vehicle faults other than those on the job card.
- Conduct servicing according to MAN specifications and service sheet.
- Work accurately and thoroughly to achieve both efficiency and productivity to the required standards.
- Grade: 12 Matric Certificate.
- N3 and possess a Diesel Mechanic trade test certificate.
- Possession of a dual trade is highly advantageous.
- Pro‑active, highly motivated and pay attention to detail.
- Work independently while being a team player.
- Customer focused with a results driven approach.
- Good communication (oral and written) & interpersonal relations skills.
- EC or EC1 drivers licence.
- Trade Certificate experience in the heavy commercial vehicle industry - 5 years.
- MAN and/or VW heavy commercial vehicles - 3 years.
- MAN CATS 3 - 1 year.
- Engineering / Technical jobs.
