Diesel Mechanic – Sunlands, Eastern Cape

We are looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team and grow our footprint in the wood chipping industry. This exciting new position has become available largely due to our expanding business and the opening of branches nationally and internationally. This position is located at Sunland in the Eastern Cape, however, you will be expected to travel daily.

Responsibilities

• Determine the condition of equipment by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
• Maintain equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety thereof by completing preventive maintenance schedules and installing component and/or part upgrades.
• Maintenance requirements include removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies and sub-assemblies as needed to restore proper operation.
• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and keeping stock of tools and parts required to perform preventive maintenance.
• Responsible for servicing not only the machines of ABC but also those of external clients.
• Maintain vehicle/equipment records by annotating services and repairs.
• Develop job‑related skills by engaging in educational opportunities, reviewing technical publications, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Strengthen the reputation of the maintenance department by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different challenges.

Desired Experience and Qualification

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Completed trade test
• 5+ years relevant experience in the trade
• Valid driver’s licence with PDP
