Job summary
A leading recruitment agency is seeking a candidate with a National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering for a role in Gqeberha, South Africa. The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing and in-depth knowledge of motor vehicle components. The successful candidate will manage new part introductions, ensure compliance with specifications, and initiate design improvements. The role includes local and international travel as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in the manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable motor vehicle parts and manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Qualifying Program for new part introduction.
- Identify root causes for part deviation from specifications.
- Test and evaluate performance of parts according to specifications.
- Provide technical expertise for complete parts.
- Initiate design improvements for complex part problems.
Skills
Education
- National Diploma /Degree in Mechanical Engineering /Electrical Engineering /Polymer
- Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in the manufacturing environment
- In-depth knowledge of applicable motor vehicle parts, their function, applicable specifications, part manufacturing processes and testing methods.
- Sound technical knowledge of motor vehicle components and systems.
- Knowledge and application of Quality Tools e.g. DOE, SPC, FMEA, 8D
- Working knowledge of Pro CKD.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and related specifications.
- Computer literate (Ms Office)
- Be prepared to travel, local and overseas at short notice.
- Have a valid driver license.
To ensure that the motor vehicle components perform consistently to specification throughout the life cycle of the component by:
- Initiating and managing the Qualifying Program for new part introduction.
- Implement continuous improvement by identifying the root cause for part deviation from specification and correct the deviation in all phases of the life cycle of the part.
- Testing and evaluating the performance of parts according to specification.
- Provide the required Technical Expertise for complete parts in respect of material and function.
- Initiate design improvements for complex problems on parts.
- Initiate local and CKD claims from suppliers
