Job summary
A health and safety management firm in Cape Town is seeking an experienced professional to manage health and safety standards across various sites. The role requires a relevant qualification, SACPCMP CHSO certification, and at least 5 years' experience in a civil engineering environment. Responsibilities include developing H&S systems, conducting risk assessments, and leading H&S committee meetings. A competitive salary of R15K is offered, with opportunities for training and development.
Qualifications
- Must have extended knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- At least 5 years in a civil engineering environment required.
- SACPCMP CHSO certification is mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement H&S management systems across multiple sites.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures.
- Investigate incidents and report to the Compliance Manager.
- Head H&S committee meetings and conduct compliance audits.
Skills
Education
Main Purpose & KPA’s: Effectively managing Health and Safety on site. Ensure that any / all sites fully adhere to H&S regulations both physically and administratively. Ensure proper implementation of the health and safety plan. Ensure that all accidents / incidents are reported / recorded. Identify training requirements and scarce skills for the workforce. Conduct internal training where required.
- Relevant qualification
- SACPCMP CHSO
- 5 year’s experience (Civil engineering environment, multiple concurrent sites on different locations)
- Develop and implementation of H&S management systems for group of companies in cohesion with ISO management system
- Generate Health and Safety File for contract works
- Conduct Risk Assessments in order to implement control measures for all contract and emergency works
- Investigate incident / accidents and report in an advisory role to Compliance Manager
- Liaise between Clients, Principal Contractors and Sub-contractors etc.
- Compliance Audits (Conducted on all contractors, site conditions & H&S system)
- Head H&S Committee Meetings to discuss all H&S related matters on all sites
- Site Inspections on online platform + necessary actioning of findings
- Compile Health and Safety Related Documentation
- Site specific Safety Plans
- Hazard Identification Risk Assessments
- Fall Protection Plans
- Method Statements
- Safe Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Emergency Preparedness Instructions
- Including all other required documentation
