The role involves solving complex problems to deliver real business value across a wide range of data solutions, developing best practices, and driving improvements in data engineering and automation of daily actions.

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions Perform SQL Server Database Administrator tasks.

Implement TDE Encryption.

Perform performance tuning on queries and databases.

Support and maintain Azure SQL Server Managed Instances.

Utilize Azure Data Technologies and support related environments.

Apply knowledge in DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps and Terraform.

Use basic scripting skills in Python or PowerShell.

Identify, verify, track, and notify about events affecting database uptime and reliability.

Handle critical incidents, including Severity 1 incidents.

Core Functional Skills & Capabilities Experience with SAP Tools and Platforms.

Customer-focused approach.

Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Core Behavioural Competencies Adherence to principles and values.

Ability to cope with pressures and setbacks.

Decisiveness and initiative.

Effective teamwork and communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications NQF Level 6 : 3-year Degree / Diploma / National Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science.

Additional Education - Preferred / Advantage Experience Up to 7 years of experience in Microsoft SQL database administration.

Experience with SQL Server, AlwaysON, TDE Encryption, Performance Tuning.

Experience with Azure Data Technologies, Azure SQL Managed Instances, Azure Data Factory, DevOps, Python, or PowerShell.

Certifications Certifications in Python and / or PowerShell are advantageous.

Professional Memberships in Relevant Industry Level of Engagement & Span of Control Engagement across all organizational levels, internal and external.

Willingness to travel locally.

Ability to work staggered hours, shifts, overtime, and respond to call-outs.

Ability to work cooperatively within a team.
