Purpose
The Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting revenue growth by combining technical knowledge with strong sales and communication skills. This position focuses on identifying customer needs, proposing suitable technical solutions, and building lasting customer relationships. The Sales Engineer acts as a vital link between customers and internal teams, ensuring satisfaction while contributing to business targets. Job Duties:
Primary Responsibilities:
· Sales Strategy Support: Assist in executing sales strategies to meet assigned targets and KPIs.
· Customer Development: Identify potential new customers and support efforts to expand the customer base.
· Technical Sales Support: Deliver product presentations, assist with sales negotiations, and support deal closure.
· Customer Enquiries & Proposals: Prepare quotations and proposals tailored to customer needs.
· Market Awareness: Monitor competitor activities, pricing trends, and industry developments.
· Relationship Building: Engage with customers and help maintain long-term business relationships.
· Complaint Handling: Coordinate with QA and customer service teams to address and resolve issues.
Secondary Responsibilities:
· Internal Collaboration: Work closely with product and engineering teams to understand offerings and deliver solutions.
· Sales Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline updates.
· Travel: Willingness to travel regionally or internationally for customer visits and trade shows.
· Continuous Learning: Stay updated on optics technologies and industry advancements.
· Additional Responsibilities: Take on other relevant duties as assigned by management to support team and company objective.
Experience:
· Prior experience in technical sales, pre-sales, or engineering-related customer-facing roles.
· 1 to 3 years of experience in technical sales, pre-sales, or customer-facing engineering roles.
· Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
· Customer-focused with an ability to understand basic technical requirements.
· Experience in optics, engineering, or manufacturing sectors is a plus.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
· Self-motivated and results-driven.
· Experience in a factory or production environment is advantageous.
· Familiarity with market research and the ability to analyse customer needs and translate them into product solutions.
· Able to work independently, with a strong drive to achieve sales targets.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering or a related field (e.g., Mechanical, Optical)
· Experience in industry sales is preferred; experience in precision optics is an advantage.
· Fluency in English and Mandarin (spoken and written) to liaise with customers and internal teams across Asia, Europe, and the US.
· A background in engineering is preferred, particularly with knowledge of optics or related technologies.
Other Requirements:
· Willingness to work across multiple time zones (Asia, Europe, USA).
· Overseas travel may be required for customer engagements or exhibitions.
