Job Description
The Communications Executive at Thales Asia works on protecting and enhancing the Thales brand and reputation internally and externally. The focus will be on priority markets in the region, notably in Singapore and in other South East Asian countries.
The successful candidate has a sound understanding of communications tools and channels that will support Thales’ communication across multiple channels (internet, intranet, social media, events execution). He/She will align all regional and Singapore communications initiatives with Group and DGDI objectives, ensuring consistency in messaging, content development and deliverables, as well as alignment with internal tools and policies.
He / she is an integral member of the Asia Communications team and serves as an effective business partner to all cross-functional teams and business leaders in Asia. Effective transverse collaboration with peers across the functions and business units within the company, as well as upwards towards the Group /DGDI (International) headquarters and Global Business Units is fundamental for success in this role.
The candidate reports to the Director of Communications for Thales in Asia.
Detailed Responsibilities
1. Internal Communications
· Communicates internally on local initiatives, with written articles for the intranet. Ensures consistent communications touchpoints to employees, by:
o Crafting written content (articles, social media posts) on internal happenings, to be published on People OnLine.
o Managing the flow of information from Asia-Comms mailbox to employees.
· Be the key interface with the Group Internal Communications team to cascade Group initiatives, and work to make them relevant for Singapore and Asia.
· Work closely with HR and other internal stakeholders (Le Club, CSR, WiTH, Marketing) to amplify local news internally
· Create content and run internal engagements including town halls, management briefings and support cross-functional teams’ events (e.g. innovation days, hackathons).
· Support leadership communications during key visits (from Corporate / GBUs / BLs) in helping develop local events and cascading of internal messages to employees.
· Provide logistical and on-ground support at internal events, working closely with cross-functional teams.
2. Digital Assets
· Manage the Thales Group internet and intranet pages for Asia, including ensuring the timely updates of content and working with DGDI and the Group Digital team when needed. Includes working with countries to keep content relevant for their markets.
· Manage internal Thales tools (Thales 360, PeopleOnline, website management) to successfully execute and drive campaigns.
· Develop social media content, including an ongoing content calendar to highlight relevant news.
· Video content creation. Supports the filming and editing of internal (MoJo) videos and engages services for external video production through trusted suppliers when required. Oversees the end-to-end production for videos and other digital assets.
· Manage the Asia-Comms mailbox, shared drives, media libraries, CryptoBox (internal repository of content).
3. External Communications
· Drive external communications with content development, articles, key messages and briefing books.
· Support sales teams, BD, KAMs in refining customer-related communications and messages; in support of must-wins and other initiatives.
· Provide on-ground support at events, which may include media engagement and agency management.
· Supplier management Liaise with a network of approved suppliers and agency partners – ensuring consistency in messaging and quality outputs. Source for alternate vendors to augment the list of suppliers we work with and ensure compliance and proper onboarding.
· Oversees the communications assets (banners, backdrops, equipment) – including suggesting ideas for production of new items as needed.
Requirements And Qualifications
· Degree in Communications, Business, International Relations, Marketing
· 5 years of experience in corporate communications, internal communications, PR, social media, events, influencer marketing; developed in-house in B2B and B2G sectors.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a pre-requisite, with strong copywriting skills and the ability to distil stories out of complexity
· Events and project management skills a priority.
· Familiarity with managing digital platforms (website CMS, Hootsuite, social media platforms)
· Proficiency in design and content creation
· Familiarity with crisis communications
· Strong interpersonal skills and familiarity in comfortably navigating complex matrix organisations and engaging stakeholders across different management levels, geographies and cultures is imperative.
· Willingness to work, network and collaborate with a global communications team, sitting across countries and continents, including adapting to different time zones effectively
· Results-oriented, creative and meticulous with keen eye for details
· Effective multi-tasker who is able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
· Up-to-date on latest industry trends, with the ability to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently
· A team player who is also self-driven and can work independently with minimal supervision
