Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Centre for International Law (CIL), National University of Singapore. CIL is seeking a graduate of International Law with a scholarly interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Technology Law. This is a one (1)-year contractual position for a junior scholar offered in connection with CIL's expansion of its research on AI and Technology Law in the field of International Law. The objective of the position is to develop the research capabilities and knowledge of junior scholars by immersing them in a dynamic and supportive research environment where they can enhance their understanding of different fields of AI and Technology Law within International Law.
The successful candidate is expected to support the AI and Technology Law team at CIL in advancing research and contributing to key outcomes in the field related to international law. Specific responsibilities include:
Assisting the AI and Technology Law Lead in conducting research related to the programme's ongoing projects;
Conducting research and completing at least one (1) publication of possible publication in a recognised journal at the termination of the position;
Supporting and helping coordinate the AI and Technology Law team's research agenda;
Assisting in the planning, development and organisation of seminars, workshops, and conferences, and present work at research seminars;.
Staying informed on international law developments in AI, emerging technologies, and digital innovation, with a focus on developing materials and literature in the field. Support and expand CIL's role in forums and organisations discussing legal frameworks for AI, technology, and sustainable development;
Contributing to CIL's broader research projects, events, and initiatives as assigned;
Residing in Singapore throughout the term of appointment, adhering to standard NUS leave policies.
