ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. Its mission is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in Member States, aligning with the SDGs, especially SDG-9.
UNIDO's programmatic focus is structured around four strategic priorities: Creating shared prosperity; Advancing economic competitiveness; Safeguarding the environment; and Strengthening knowledge and institutions. The organization operates through core functions such as technical cooperation, research and policy advisory, normative activities, and partnerships, across its various offices and divisions.
The position is within the Climate Innovation and Montreal Protocol Division (TCS/CMP), which supports Member States in low-carbon and climate-resilient industrialization, and in compliance with the Montreal Protocol and its amendments.
The division's responsibilities include promoting system innovation, facilitating technology transfer, and supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts through capacity building and policy support.
The position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within the Programme Management Unit (PMU).
PROJECT CONTEXT
The project aims to assist Saudi Arabia in its HCFC phase-out commitments under the Montreal Protocol, involving activities like monitoring, technical assistance, and stakeholder coordination to ensure effective implementation of the HCFC phase-out management plan (HPMP) for 2024-2030.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under supervision, the expert will manage social media promotion, develop communication materials, strategize promotional campaigns, train project staff on digital communication, prepare reports, and coordinate with media and partners for effective outreach.
MINIMUM ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Education: Master's degree in communication, journalism, public/media relations, or related fields.
Experience: At least 3 years in relevant fields, with experience in messaging, media networks, and proficiency in creative applications like Adobe Creative Suite and website editing tools.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
