JOB SUMMARY
  • Assist Relationship Manager in managing client relationships and handle all credit related matters including preparation of credit proposition, credit monitoring and reviews, stress testing as well as ad-hoc requests or reviews, self-assessments, audit and compliance matters (e.g. IAD, CRR, External etc). Prioritizing deal execution and taking charge of timely reviews.
  • Adherence to credit controls of SMBC Malaysia and SMBC Labuan and maintain constant communication with Credit Control Department, Credit Risk Department and Regional Credit Departments on credit related matters.
  • Closely collaborate with Relationship Manager and Client Managers to ensure key responsibilities are executed seamlessly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare credit applications, ensure proper, accurate and timely submission of relevant applications including credit proposition, credit monitoring and reviews,stress testing as well as ad-hoc monitoring, requests or reviews and self-assessments, while prioritizing deal execution and taking charge of timely reviews to ensure no overdues.
  • Attend to internal, external and regulatory audit as well as compliance matters.
  • Early identification and detection of credit and/or industry issues and work closely with Relationship Manager to constructively address credit concerns.
  • Support Local Relationship Manager (LRM)/ Global Relationship Manager (GRM) to manage client relationships and facilitate deal execution within SMBC network for both inbound and outbound business.
  • Maintain constant communication with credit department to obtain credit approval in timely manner.
  • Actively participating in account planning process, opportunity spotting, preparation of sales pitch and deal execution together with the Relationship Manager.
  • After approval and completion of legal documentation, to prepare Control Card, Covenant Control Sheet and Covenant Memo (including periodic compliance purposes).
  • Monitor the financial and business performance of customers and report to management/ raise the necessary reports on any adverse/ latest news within stipulated timeline.
  • To keep abreast of customers’ financial condition and business/ industry outlook.
  • Join Relationship Manager for customer visit/ site visit on a periodic basis.
  • Keep up-to-date and apply the latest internal and regulatory rules and procedures when preparing credit applications.
  • Cross coverage amongst ARMs during peak or critical period and during block leave.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or professional qualification in business, finance, banking, economics, accountancy or related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of corporate banking related experience including credit writing, financial analysis and marketing related skillset.
  • Experiences in handling public sector, financial institutional and non-bank financial institutional clients will be of added advantage.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills and able to work efficiently in team work environment.
  • Good understanding of FI and NBFI industries and regulatory policies and requirements.
  • Good communication, writing, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player, self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
