Job description

The Vessel Traffic Controller (VTC) at Tanjung Bruas Port holds a vital operational position

responsible for maintaining the safe, orderly and efficient movement of vessels within the port’s

jurisdiction. This includes oversight of marine traffic in anchorage areas, Ship-to-Ship (STS) areas,

and TBP Jetty where cargo handling, bunkering and other marine services are conducted.

Functioning as the central communication and coordination point within the Marine Control Room,

the VTC ensures continuous monitoring of vessel movements, facilitates navigational safety, and

support the timely execution of port services. The role also serves as a key liaison between

shipping agencies, pilots, tugboat operators, operation teams and internal departments,

contributing directly to the port’s operational integrity and service delivery.

The VTC is expected to uphold strict control room attendance protocols, maintain situational

awareness at all times, and support administrative coordination for pilotage and tugboats services,

including accurate reporting for billing purposes.
