Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Support installation and ramp-up of a new reliability test laboratory.
  • Plan, execute, and document reliability tests in accordance with Bosch test plans.
  • Independently execute validation tests in the laboratory.
  • Set up electrotechnical setups and select materials for reliability tests.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on test equipment.
  • Travel to Germany for training.

Validation Engineer for ASIC Reliability

Bosch has been present in Malaysia since 1923, represented by Robert Bosch Sdn Bhd. In Malaysia, Bosch is active in four business sectors: Mobility Solutions, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology. The company has three manufacturing sites and research and development offices in Penang, producing automotive electronics, power tools and steering systems, and soon a fourth plant with a final testing centre for sensors and semiconductors. In 2020, Bosch Malaysia generated consolidated sales of RM 518.4 million (108.1 million euros), and currently employs more than 4,000 associates.

PgP5 Plant is Bosch Group’s newest expansion in Malaysia a semiconductor test site in Batu Kawan Penang. The construction has begun in May 2021 and first series of production to commence in 2023. With the long-term forecasts for growth of semiconductor component quantities, coupled with the front-end production in Bosch’s Dresden facility in Germany, capacity expansion is required for the back-end production, which is the final testing phase of semiconductors and sensors. PgP5 will primarily focus on the final testing of components manufactured at Bosch Automotive Electronics’ fab in Dresden, Germany. The plant will also house R&D and training facilitiesand reliability testing for semiconductors.

Job Description
  • Support/Cooperation during installation and ramp up of a new reliability test laboratory for ASIC Semiconductors from scratch on

  • Planning, execution and documentation of reliability tests in accordance with the test plan of Bosch ASICs

  • Independent execution of validation tests in the reliability laboratory like loading chambers, start tests, etc.

  • Determination and coordination of technical test parameters in cooperation with reliability and product development engineers

  • Planning and tracking of reliability tests with aspects such as deadlines and resources, in the event of capacity bottlenecks, check the effects, develop solutions and coordinate with reliability engineer

  • Setting up and installing electrotechnical setups and selecting suitable materials for carrying out reliability tests in cooperation with German reliability lab

  • Layout of product-specific circuit boards and load sets

  • Tracking and evaluation of control parameters as well as root cause analysis in the event of
    anomalies during test execution

  • Release new test setups, develop maintenance procedures and provide technical support in case of failures

  • Introduction and maintenance of the IT infrastructure in close cooperation with the lead laboratory in Reutlingen, Germany

  • Coordination and support of external suppliers

  • Perform preventive maintenance on test equipment

  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and safety

  • Open for business trips and able to travel e.g. Germany

  • Able to stay in Germany for up to 6-month training

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years to 5 years working experience in the semiconductor industry, preferable at least 3 years of semiconductor validation testing

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in ElectricalorManufacturingEngineering

  • Possess strong communication skills (both verbal & written), able to moderate conflict situations

  • Good IT and standard office software skills. Knowledge in programming language like Python and LabVIEW preferable

  • Candidates must be proactive with ability to work in a team and provide positive influence to improve

  • Candidate must work accurate and results orientated

  • Able to perform technical discussion together with equipment supplier and engineering departments

  • Knowledge of typical bus standards like SPI, LIN, etc. preferable
