Job summary

A leading traffic management firm in Johor Bahru is seeking a proactive Traffic Operations Assistant to monitor real-time traffic conditions and assist in data collection. You will support Traffic Engineers in signal adjustments and identify congestion patterns while preparing regular reports. Candidates should have a diploma or degree in related fields with strong observational and communication skills. Knowledge of traffic systems is an advantage. This role involves outdoor work and travel to various locations.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Transportation, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Traffic Management or related fields.
• Strong observational skills and interest in traffic operations and urban mobility.
• Basic knowledge of traffic flow, road design, and transportation systems is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular field patrols to observe and monitor real-time traffic conditions.
• Perform on-site data collection, including traffic counts and vehicle movements.
• Assist Traffic Engineers in executing on-site signal timing adjustments.
• Identify congestion patterns and traffic irregularities for analysis.
• Prepare and submit daily/weekly reports on traffic observations.

Job description

Conduct regular field patrols to observe and monitor real-time traffic conditions across assigned areas.

Perform on-site data collection, including traffic counts, vehicle movements, and road condition assessments.

Assist Traffic Engineers in executing on-site signal timing adjustments to improve traffic flow and reduce delays.

Identify congestion patterns, recurring bottlenecks, and traffic irregularities for analysis and reporting.

Support the overall traffic management team in enhancing operational efficiency, traffic safety, and incident response.

Prepare and submit daily/weekly reports on traffic observations, data findings, and field activities.

Requirements / Field of Study:

Diploma or Degree in Transportation, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Traffic Management, or related fields.

Strong observational skills and interest in traffic operations and urban mobility.

Ability to work outdoors and travel to various field locations.

Basic knowledge of traffic flow, road design, and transportation systems is an added advantage.
