Position Summary
The Biomedical Technician is responsible for assisting in the maintenance, servicing, and repair of medical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation across assigned hospital sites. This role supports Biomedical Engineers in performing preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation work in accordance with hospital standards, safety protocols, and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Maintenance & Repair Support
- Assist in performing Preventive Maintenance (PPM), Corrective Maintenance (BM), and basic troubleshooting of medical equipment.
- Carry out simple in-house repairs, cleaning, inspection, calibration checks, and equipment readiness tasks.
- Support Biomedical Engineers in handling complex repair jobs and vendor‑coordinated servicing.
- 2. Equipment Handling & Safety
- Ensure equipment is handled safely and stored properly after servicing.
- Follow all safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and hospital procedures during equipment handling.
- Report any equipment malfunction, safety issue, or abnormality immediately.
- 3. Documentation & Reporting
- Assist in updating service records, maintenance forms, checklists, and asset tracking documents.
- Ensure all documentation related to PPM/BM is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Support data entry into service management systems when required.
- 4. Vendor & Department Coordination
- Coordinate with vendors for collection, delivery, servicing, or installation of equipment when necessary.
- Assist in preparing tools, spare parts, and equipment required for maintenance tasks.
- Liaise with hospital users to ensure proper scheduling and equipment availability for servicing.
- 5. Operational & Technical Support
- Assist in testing & commissioning (T&C) of new equipment.
- Provide basic user guidance when trained and authorized.
- Support hospital operations and internal teams during audits, equipment inspections, and emergency breakdowns.
- 6. Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop, tools, and storage areas.
- Perform standby duty or after‑hours support when required.
- Carry out any other duties assigned based on operational needs and management direction.
Requirements
- Certificate/Diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
- 0–2 years of experience in biomedical or technical servicing (fresh graduates are encouraged to apply).
- Basic understanding of medical equipment functions and troubleshooting.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
- Willing to work at hospital sites and travel when required.
- Able to follow instructions, SOPs, and safety protocols with discipline.
