The Backend Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining selective soldering machines and conformal coating processes to ensure product quality, process stability, and compliance with IPC/quality standards. Responsibilities include setup, troubleshooting, inspection, preventive maintenance, and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Setup, operate, and troubleshoot selective soldering machines (Ersa Wave Soldering & Selective Soldering).
  • Load fixtures/programs, check solder pot temperature, nozzle alignment, flux calibration.
  • Monitor solder quality: bridging, wetting, hole fill, IPC-A-610 compliance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance: solder pot, nozzle, flux spray, N2 system, pumps, conveyors.
  • Setup and operate spray/dispense coating systems (manual/automatic) – Nordson Machine.
  • Verify coating material, viscosity, curing profile, and masking.
  • Inspect coating thickness, coverage, bubbles, contamination, overspray.
  • Operate UV inspection and monitor curing system (oven/UV tunnel).
  • Record process parameters, downtime logs, defect trends, machine performance.
  • Support root cause analysis for bridging, solder balls, voids, skip soldering.

Requirements

  • Diploma/Certificate in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics or equivalent.
  • Experience in backend PCB assembly (selective soldering, wave, coating).
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610, IPC-CC-830, ESD, and manufacturing quality systems.
  • Ability to read PCB drawings, polarity, coating keep-out zones, WI/BOM.
  • Basic troubleshooting & preventive maintenance competency.
