Technical Manager – Water & Environmental Engineering
Malaysia (Newly Incorporated Branch) | Regional Role – South East Asia
As part of the launch and development of our newly incorporated Malaysia branch, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Technical Manager to play a key role in building and leading our technical operations across South East Asia.
This is a strategic, hands‑on regional position focused on wastewater, rainwater, and stormwater solutions, working in close coordination with our headquarters in Germany.
About the Role
As Technical Manager – South East Asia, you will act as the technical reference and regional lead, overseeing the design, implementation, and performance of water‑related projects across the region. Joining at an early stage of the branch’s development, you will contribute not only to project execution but also to the structuring of technical processes, partner coordination, and regional best practices. The role involves regular travel across Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Technical & Project Leadership
- Lead and manage technical operations for wastewater, rainwater, and stormwater projects across South East Asia.
- Oversee project planning, engineering design, execution, and delivery for regional installations.
- Review, validate, and optimize technical solutions, system designs, and methodologies.
- Prepare, review, and approve engineering and CAD drawings for installations and modifications.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Supervise and develop partner technical teams, engineers, and contractors.
- Act as the technical liaison between: Regional clients and authorities, Local partners and contractors, and Headquarters in Germany.
- Provide on‑site technical support, inspections, and troubleshooting when required.
Quality, Compliance & Innovation
- Ensure compliance with local and regional engineering standards, environmental regulations, safety requirements, and internal policies.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies in water management.
- Propose innovative, efficient, and sustainable solutions adapted to regional markets.
Training & Knowledge Transfer
- Participate in technical training sessions at HQ in Germany.
- Support knowledge transfer and technical alignment across regional teams.
Education
- Environmental Engineering
- Civil Engineering (Water / Hydraulics / Water Resources specialization) or a closely related engineering discipline
Experience
- 3–5+ years of experience in water, wastewater, stormwater, or environmental engineering projects
- Technical management, engineering leadership, or senior engineering roles
- Experience with multi‑site or regional projects is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
- Solid expertise in wastewater treatment, stormwater, and rainwater management.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and environmental engineering principles.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Experience with engineering documentation, design reviews, and technical reporting.
Personal & Language Skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional regional languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel frequently across South East Asia.
- Comfortable working independently in a start‑up / build‑up branch environment, while coordinating with international teams.
