About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Systems Engineer for a dynamic hybrid role. This position is the critical technical bridge between business requirements and functional, high-performance applications.

This is not a standard helpdesk role. You will be a high-level technical expert responsible for systems analysis, L3 production support, deep-level code troubleshooting, and ensuring the reliability of mission‑critical systems.

The ideal candidate is a proficient problem-solver with deep expertise in both Microsoft infrastructure and public cloud (Azure/AWS) environments. This role requires participation in a 24x7 on‑call rotation or scheduled night shifts (with advance notice) to support essential business operations.

Core Responsibilities
  • Systems Analysis: Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into detailed technical specifications, functional prototypes, and user‑friendly applications.
  • L3 Troubleshooting & Debugging: Perform deep-level code analysis and debugging on existing applications and SQL scripts to conduct root cause analysis (RCA), troubleshoot complex issues, and understand application logic.
  • Modern Architecture: Apply a strong understanding of modern infrastructure concepts, including CI/CD, microservice architectures, CaaS, and MQTT.
  • Quality Assurance: Troubleshoot, test, and find effective solutions for complex coding problems; this includes conducting unit, integration, and functional tests.
  • Production Support: Provide essential 24x7 on‑call production support (or work scheduled night shifts) to triage, analyze, and resolve high‑priority incidents.
  • Security & Automation: Implement application security protocols and perform regular security checks. Identify and automate business processes using technology.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, system flow charts, and operational handbooks for users and other technical teams.
  • Project Planning: Assist in estimating the costs of system solutions, developing use cases, and coordinating the testing of new or enhanced applications.
Minimum Qualifications (Must-Haves)
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a relevant systems engineering, SRE, or L3 support role.
  • Software Implementation: Hands‑on experience with the full software lifecycle, including patching, installing, upgrading, and maintenance.
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with Azure, AWS, or complex SaaS application environments.
  • Microsoft Stack: Strong expertise in Microsoft infrastructure, including Windows Server Administration, MS SQL, Active Directory, and Hyper‑V.
  • Scripting: Advanced scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python, JSON, shell scripting) for automation and troubleshooting.
  • Database: Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL, including both database administration (DBA) and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Integrations: A solid understanding of APIs, data structures, and system integrations.
  • Communication: Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Containerization: Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes (K8s).
  • Frameworks: Knowledge of ITIL or other IT service management (ITSM) frameworks.
  • Cybersecurity: A strong understanding of modern cybersecurity standards and best practices.
  • DR/BCP: Experience with Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
  • ICS Experience: Experience with reducing cyber risk to Industrial Control Systems (ICS) is a significant advantage.
  • Asset Management: Familiarity with hardware and software asset management.
