Job summary

A fresh produce importer and retailer in Malaysia is seeking a Purchasing Executive. The ideal candidate will manage supplier relationships, carry out quality checks, and handle purchasing activities using various procurement systems. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a retail or supermarket procurement role is required, alongside a Secondary/SPM/’O’ Level certification. Candidates should be proficient in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and preferably Mandarin. This position requires flexibility in working hours.

The company, from humble beginnings in 1985 as a small stall in a morning market, has grown into a fresh produce importer and retailer, operating a wholesale market in Klang Valley with a diverse range of products.

Responsibilities:
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for chilled & frozen food items (Halal), groceries items (Halal) or China imports (Non-Halal).
  • Conduct regular quality checks and supplier visits to maintain product standards.
  • Manage purchasing activities using inventory or procurement systems (POS, ERP, or Excel).
  • Work closely with store operations, merchandising, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth product flow.
  • Monitor product performance, stock levels, and market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality assurance standards, and local regulations.
  • Travel when required for supplier sourcing, product evaluation, or store-related needs.
  • Support promotional activities through timely sourcing and stock allocation.
Requirements:
  • Possess a minimum of Secondary/SPM/’O’ Level certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a buying or procurement role within the retail/merchandise sector, preferably within a supermarket environment.
  • Willingness to travel for supplier sourcing, quality checks, and store visits.
  • Ability to work shifts, including weekends or public holidays, when necessary.
  • Proficient in inventory or procurement systems (POS, ERP, or Excel-based ordering).
  • Required languages: English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin (added advantage).
  • Willing to work in Kawasan Industri Kampung Jaya, Sungai Buloh.
  • Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9.00am to 6.00pm.
  • 2 Halal Segment and 1 Non-Halal Segment Purchasing Executive position available.
