A leading electronics manufacturing company is seeking a Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineer responsible for DFM review and NPI for product assemblies in Bayan Lepas, Malaysia. This role involves collaboration with global teams to enhance assembly processes, improve operational efficiencies, and manage new technology introductions. Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in a multinational electronic manufacturing environment, strong interpersonal skills, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Creo.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years experience in a multinational electronic manufacturing environment, focusing on mechanical assembly.
  • Strong knowledge in Mechanics, Automation, GD&T, and 2D/3D design is required.
  • Lean experience and knowledge of DFM, Six Sigma, FMEA preferred.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for DFM review and NPI for product assemblies. Provide recommendations and practical proposal for issues identified to ensure successful NPI launch while achieving win-win for Manufacturing and RnD.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day execution, sustaining, and resolution of product assembly issues to capture revenue. Define assembly process, WI, and costing of products.
  • Work closely with global manufacturing and mechanical development team to create and improve upon innovative assembly solution, drive strategies to optimize operational efficiencies, quality, and reduce cost contributing to the achievement of company growth and margin goals.
  • Collaborate with hardware design and mechanical development project team members as needed to ensure the final combined product that functions properly together and performs at levels specified in the product specifications with high compliance of DFMA.
  • Manage the new technology introduction or transfer for new products and transfer test systems between sites in timely and efficient manner.

Experiences

  • Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics or equivalent from an accredited engineering program.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a multinational electronic manufacturing environment, with a significant focus in mechanical assembly. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • This individual must possess strong interpersonal skills, relationship management skills and the ability to gain cross-functional support to meet objectives.
  • Good knowledge in Mechanics, Automation, GD&T and 2D/3D design
  • Materials science, DFM, Six Sigma, FMEA, Lean experience strongly preferred

Skills

  • Experience working with module and systems assembly. Knowledge in RF assembly and automation an added advantage
  • Works well independently – must be able to perform daily duties with minimum level of supervision.
  • Can clearly/concisely communicate in English, ability use multiple modes of communication (i.e. presentations)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams, locally and globally.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment to develop positive relationships.
  • Problem-solve and root cause effectively – diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutions
  • Quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products
  • Proficiency in Creo & AutoCAD
