Job summary

A leading medical center in Malaysia seeks a Staff Nurse/Senior Staff Nurse for its Cath Lab. Candidates must hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and be a registered nurse with at least 3 years of clinical experience, particularly in critical care. Responsibilities include assessing patients, monitoring recovery, and providing patient education. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory, while Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Job description
Staff Nurse/Senior Staff Nurse - Cath Lab
Responsibilities
  • Assess patients pre-procedure (vital signs, medical history, allergies, renal function, anticoagulation status).
  • Explain procedures to patients and families, obtain informed consent, and provide emotional support.
  • Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization, angiography, PCI, pacemaker insertion, EP studies, etc.
  • Establish IV access and administer pre-procedure medications as prescribed.
  • Monitor patients in recovery for complications (bleeding, hematoma, arrhythmias, hypotension).
  • Perform sheath removal or assist according to hospital policy.
  • Conduct vascular site checks and neurovascular assessments.
  • Provide post-procedure instructions and patient education.
Emergency & Critical Care
  • Recognize and respond promptly to complications such as contrast reactions, hypotension or bleeding.
  • Participate in resuscitation (ACLS) and emergency interventions.
Education & Registration
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse with a valid nursing license (e.g., LJM / local nursing board).
Clinical Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience and experience in critical care areas.
  • Basic ECG interpretation skills.
Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – mandatory.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – preferred / must obtain within a specified period after hiring.
