Job Title: Speech & Drama cum English Teacher

Sekolah Sri UCSI is seeking a passionate and dynamic Speech & Drama cum English Teacher to inspire students through language, performance, and creative expression. The successful candidate will deliver engaging English and Speech & Drama lessons that develop students’ communication skills, confidence, creativity, and critical thinking within a holistic, internationally-minded learning environment.

This role requires strong subject knowledge, creativity in teaching, and a commitment to nurturing students’ academic, emotional, and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in English Language and Speech & Drama in alignment with the school’s curriculum framework (e.g., Cambridge Primary/Secondary, IGCSE, national curriculum, or equivalent).
  • Design and implement lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessments that develop students’ speaking, listening, reading, writing, and performance skills.
  • Foster a student-centered and expressive learning environment that encourages creativity, confidence, collaboration, and effective communication.
  • Teach drama techniques such as voice projection, movement, improvisation, role‑play, script analysis, and stage performance.
  • Integrate literature, storytelling, public speaking, debate, and performance-based activities into English lessons to enhance language acquisition and engagement.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies, digital tools, and multimedia resources to support diverse learning styles.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs.
  • Prepare students for presentations, assemblies, drama productions, speech competitions, and performances.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum coherence and contribute to cross‑curricular and co‑curricular activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, prepare progress reports, and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
  • Promote a positive classroom culture that supports respect, creativity, confidence, and academic excellence.
  • Participate actively in school events, productions, competitions, and professional development programmes.
  • Uphold the school’s mission, values, and commitment to holistic education and student well‑being.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Drama, Performing Arts, Education, or a related discipline.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Diploma in Education, B.Ed, PGCE, or equivalent).
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in English and/or Speech & Drama at the primary or secondary school level.
  • Strong command of the English language (spoken and written).
  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities and cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience with international curricula (e.g., Cambridge) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in educational technology (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, multimedia tools).
  • Passion for language education, performing arts, and student-centered learning.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and innovative teaching practices.
  • Experience in international or multicultural school environments.
  • Background in theatre productions, speech coaching, or public speaking.
  • Strong organisational, creative, and collaborative skills.
  • Enthusiasm for holistic education and student character development.
  • Dedication to nurturing student confidence, creativity, and communication skills.
