Job summary

A leading technology firm is looking for a dedicated Sourcing Engineer to manage end-to-end sourcing activities across Asia. The ideal candidate will evaluate and develop suppliers, manage RFQs, and negotiate terms to meet target costs. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and the ability to communicate in Mandarin are essential. Candidates should have a degree in engineering and 3-5 years of relevant experience, including working with multinational teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in sourcing engineering, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Ability to speak and write in Mandarin to communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
  • Proven experience with supplier sourcing, evaluation, and negotiation.

Job description

Nelson Miller Group is seeking a dedicated, accountable and detail-oriented Sourcing Engineerwith strong knowledge in both mechanical and electronic components to join our SE Asia team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for end-to-end sourcing activities across Asia, including supplier communication, RFQ management, supplier relationship management, cost analysis, and support U.S counterpart for sourcing activities. This role requires high responsiveness, including availability during nights and weekends to support urgent sourcing needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, identify, and develop suppliers based on cost, quality, lead time, and capacity.
  • Manage RFQs with suppliers and ensure timely responses aligned with project deadlines.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and BOMs to source suitable parts and components.
  • Evaluate supplier quotations to ensure alignment with target cost provided by the U.S. team.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with local and international vendors to meet target cost.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, QA, production) for sourcing strategy.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or compliance.
  • Support alternate sourcing and dual-vendor qualification for strategic parts.
  • Monitor and respond to supply disruptions, capacity issues, and lead time variances.
  • Maintain accurate RFQ records, supplier documentation and weekly report.
  • Work independently and with minimal supervision while handling multiple priorities.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering fields.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 year of experience in sourcing engineering, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Proven experience with supplier sourcing, evaluation, and negotiation.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
  • Ability to interpret and analyse mechanical, electrical, or electro‑mechanical drawings/specs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; strong mathematical skills and high attention to detail.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to speak and write in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin‑speaking clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced global supply chain environment.
  • Willing to travel to supplier sites as necessary (both domestic and international).
  • Results‑driven, adaptable and able to work independently and with minimal supervision while handling multiple priorities.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, including nights and weekends, when required to meet project or quality deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates who are familiar with Asian supplier markets and U.S. import/export cost structures.
  • Culturally adaptive and able to work across borders effectively.
  • Highly responsive, accountable, and disciplined in follow‑ups.
  • Experience working with overseas/Asia‑based suppliers and import/export processes.
  • Immediate availability to start work will be considered an added advantage.
