About the role

The Solar Plant Engineer will be based at our SDK Power Plant (Sandakan, Sabah) and responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and performance optimization of the SDK Power Plant. This role focuses on supporting all O&M activities by O&M vendors to achieve maximum plant availability, reliability, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards

What you will do
  • Operations & Monitoring: Monitor plant performance and energy output using SCADA and other monitoring systems. Analyze operational data to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Maintenance Activities: Monitor the preventive and corrective maintenance for solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, and associated equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards during all O&M activities. Maintain compliance with local regulations and company policies.
  • Performance Optimization: Implement strategies to improve plant efficiency and reduce operational costs. Support root cause analysis for performance deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare monthly energy billing system and annual performance reports. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status
  • Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Liaise with service providers for specialized maintenance tasks. Oversee contractor work to ensure quality and compliance.
What you’ll need to succeed
  • Education: Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in solar plant operations and maintenance. Hands‑on experience with PV systems, inverters, and high‑voltage equipment.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Familiarity with PV, MV systems and performance monitoring tools. Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance.
