Position Overview

We’re looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our team on a 1-year contract basis. In this role, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop, enhance, and maintain the end-to‑end platform for hire purchase financing.

What you’ll do

• Develop, enhance, and maintain application features with minimal supervision, ensuring high-quality, maintainable code.
• Design and implement efficient, scalable solutions based on business and technical requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and provide reliable fixes to improve system stability.
• Review code from junior team members, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Collaborate with Project Management, QA and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly understood and implemented correctly.
• Contribute to system architecture discussions and propose improvements to performance, reliability, and security.
• Write unit tests, integration tests, and ensure proper test coverage for assigned modules.
• Manage tasks independently, estimate effort, and deliver within sprint timelines.
• Maintain clear technical documentation for features, processes, and systems.
• Mentor junior engineers by guiding them through technical challenges and promoting best practices.

Qualifications

• At least Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
• Able to write good quality and clean code, consistent coding standards and learn best practices from senior engineers.
• Proficient with code versioning tools including Git and Bitbucket/Github.
• Understanding of relational databases, with hands‑on experience using MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision, and also with team members when the need arises.
• Demonstrated experience with system troubleshooting. Should be able to use tools at their disposal together with their experience or their research skills to locate issues with software/hardware/networking.
• Solid experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Good analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
• Positive attitude, willingness to take feedback, and openness to continuous improvement.
• Some understanding of the financial services industry is an added advantage.
