Job Description
This developer will be working to expand our capabilities around high-performance backend batch, real-time and streaming APIs and data pipelines. We leverage a lot of cloud and we have a preference for AWS, so it is expected that the developer should know how to get around with fully serverless development and has knowledge of AWS service offerings for application development, e.g. EKS, Elastic BeanStalk, Lambda, EventBridge, DynamoDB, SQS, S3, Neptune, etc.
Priority is placed on dev work, with only approximately one third of your time spent in design.
Design, coding, testing and installing applications programs either in one major language or in a range of programs across multiple platforms. Developing operating and system documentation.
Work with users to evaluate IT applications and equipment requirements. Ensuring that systems are developed within agreed budgets and time frames and achieving necessary design and systems security standards.
Providing technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced members of applications development team.
Users and user groups, development team members. External contacts Vendors of hardware and software
May include advanced Java/J2EE or .NET architecture skills and the ability to transfer these to specific project deliverables, including web models.
Knowledge in open-source programming. Understand the essential needs of users and meet these in well-designed programs. Good skills in time and resource management.
Familiarity with AWS e.g. EKS, Lambda
Experience with Snowflake. Knowledge in Spark is a bonus
