Assistant Manager, Social Media
We’re looking for a hands‑on and strategic Assistant Manager, Social Media to support the planning, execution, and optimisation of CARSOME’s social media presence. This role bridges strategy and execution – ideal for someone who understands Malaysia’s social media landscape, stays on top of trends, and can lead day‑to‑day operations while supporting team coordination. You will work closely with the Social Media Manager to ensure content is timely, engaging, and aligned with business objectives.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
- Strategy Development: Oversee and implement full social media strategies aligned with marketing objectives and overall business goals.
- Hands‑on Content Creation & Editing: Actively participate in content creation, including video shooting, photography, and editing, to ensure that content is dynamic, engaging, and on‑trend. Be ready to step in for content editing across platforms as needed, ensuring timely and high‑quality output.
- Content Coordination & Execution: Oversee content production across all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube), working closely with creative teams for visuals and content creators for platform‑specific content.
- Community Engagement: Manage online communities by responding to comments, fostering conversations, and ensuring the brand tone is consistently reflected.
- Campaign Implementation: Lead the execution of digital campaigns from start to finish, aligning them with the marketing calendar and ensuring timely delivery.
- Performance Analysis & Reporting: Track key social media metrics, providing insights and data‑driven recommendations for optimising performance and audience engagement.
- Cross‑functional Collaboration: Collaborate with creative, performance, and PR teams to ensure all content and messaging remain consistent and aligned with the broader marketing strategy.
- Trend Monitoring & Platform Optimisation: Stay current with social media trends, tools, and platform updates, adapting strategies to maximise reach and engagement. Be quick to spot relevant trends and incorporate them into content.
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and guide your social media team, including senior executives, content creators, and live commerce hosts, to ensure smooth coordination and execution.
Required Know‑How & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- 3‑4 years of experience in social media marketing, with proven success in managing brand presence across multiple platforms.
- Strong knowledge of social media tools and platforms, with practical experience in creating and editing social media content (video editing, photo editing, graphic design).
- Hands‑on experience with content creation, including shooting and editing videos and photos, for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Proficiency in editing software such as Canva, CapCut, or other tools relevant to social media content production.
- Proven track record of growing and engaging online communities and executing successful campaigns.
- Experience with campaign management and handling paid social media budgets.
- Strong analytical skills to track performance and make data‑driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with a creative flair for engaging content.
- Up‑to‑date with social media trends and conversational topics in Malaysia, with the ability to quickly adapt and incorporate them into content strategies.
