Position Title: Site Safety Supervisor (SSS)
Reporting to: Safety & Health Officer (SHO) / Project Manager
Industry: Construction / Engineering / Infrastructure / Manufacturing
Role Summary
The Site Safety Supervisor is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing workplace safety, health, and environmental (SHE) policies at the project site. The SSS ensures compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA 1994), Factories and Machinery Act (FMA), Construction Industry standards, and all DOSH regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Monitoring & Compliance
- Conduct daily site inspections to identify unsafe acts, conditions, hazards, and non-compliance issues.
- Enforce safety rules, regulations, and safe work procedures on site.
- Ensure all site activities comply with OSHA 1994, FMA, CIDB guidelines, and DOSH requirements.
2. Risk Assessment & Permit Control
- Assist in preparing Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) / HIRARC for work activities.
- Verify and monitor Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) systems (e.g., working at height, lifting operations, confined space, hot works).
- Ensure safety measures and control systems are in place before work begins.
3. Toolbox & Training
- Conduct daily/weekly toolbox briefings for workers and subcontractors.
- Participate in safety drills, training programmes, and awareness campaigns.
4. Incident Management
- Assist in reporting, investigating, and documenting accidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and non‑conformities.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain site safety records (inspections, attendance, briefings, registers).
- Prepare weekly/monthly safety reports for the management and authorities when required.
- Ensure subcontractors comply with all safety documentation requirements.
6. Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with site management, contractors, and consultants to ensure safety standards are met.
- Advise workers on proper PPE usage and monitor compliance.
- Liaise with DOSH and relevant authorities during inspections.
7. Emergency Preparedness
- Ensure emergency response plans are implemented on site.
- Maintain emergency equipment (first aid kits, fire extinguishers, evacuation routes).
Job Requirements
- CIDB Certified Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) (Mandatory).
- Must hold a valid Green Card (CIDB).
- Completion of the NIOSH Safety Passport (OGSP) is an advantage depending on industry.
- Degree / Diploma holders in related field.
Experience
- Minimum 1–3 years’ experience in construction/site safety (fresh SSS certificate holders may be considered depending on project).
- Experience in high‑risk projects (data centre, infrastructure, industrial plants) is an added advantage.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, DOSH guidelines, CIDB regulations, and relevant Malaysian safety laws.
- Able to conduct safety inspections, audits, and investigations.
- Knowledge of risk assessment (HIRARC), PTW systems, emergency response, and safe operating procedures.
- Good communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
- Able to handle documentation and prepare reports.

- First Aid certification with CPR and use of AED.
