Job summary

A leading solar energy company in Malaysia is seeking an Engineering Professional to conduct site surveys, manage subcontractors, and implement design change requirements in solar PV projects. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 1 year of experience in electrical installations or construction. Proficiency in AutoCAD and solar PV system design is preferred. Opportunities for fresh graduates are also available. A valid driving license and willingness to travel are required.

Job description

1. Conduct engineering site survey to plan equipment and interconnection locations at the site, and connection to the existing electrical system.

2. Work with Design Department to confirm engineering design to decide DC equipment and AC interconnection locations at the site and connections to the existing electrical system.

3. Liaise and manage sub-contractors for their scope of works, schedules and monitoring workmanship qualities of subcontractors during installation.

4. Record, implement and manage design change requirement especially site experience improvement.

5. Work with internal and/or external parties such as TNB, consulting firms, local authorities on licensing application and documentation.

6. Liaise and coordinate with TNB HQ & local authorities on meter installation and grid interconnection of solar PV system.

7. Setup remote monitoring system and perform Testing & Commissioning of the solar PV system.

8. Review deliverables at project milestones to ensure the project is within timeline and budget.

9. Provide weekly reporting and new project scheduling to the Head of Department, and proactively update critical issues such like material shortage, project delivery delay, subcontractor competency, law change and etc.

10. Implement best practices and safe work procedure throughout the project on site.

11. Involve and communicate with team member during O&M and DLP in complying the committed Scope of Work and Service Level Agreement.

12. Support and attend any electrical breakdowns related to solar PV systems during DLP and O&M period, initiate fault diagnosis and corrective actions for assigned solar PV projects, and implement new design or procedure for project installation to avoid repeating fault that due to project handling or design inappropriate.

13. Provide technical reports for any retention claim from subcontractor due to their mishandling, and/or manufacturing claim for product failure, and/or insurance claim for external factor that covering by EAR/WC.

14. Monitoring system performance by gathering relevant data and produce statistical performance reports before internal handover to O&M department.

15. Lead and train technicians to deliver the quality of project up to standard.

16. Develop and train new Subcontractor teams to support the project close won number.

17. Communicate closely with Project Management team to deliver department and company target.

Requirements
  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Preferably at least 1 year working experience in electrical installations or construction industry.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficient in Solar PV system design, AutoCAD, and PVSyst will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and ERP System.
  • Customer oriented, independent, problem solving, reporting skills and good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Able to do multi-task and work in fast pace environment.
  • Comfortable to work on weekends and public holidays if required.
  • Possess valid driving license D, and able to travel.
