Job description
Responsibilities

As a Senior Technical Sales Support Engineer, you will develop controls, automation and digital solution proposals for the Power & Water, Oil & Gas, Energy Transition and New Energy segments, ensuring each proposal is rooted in the specific process requirements, operational philosophies and industry standards relevant to the segment.

  • Provide technical advice and comment to support early engagement, conceptual studies, FEED and inquiry specifications for customers and Account Managers regarding ABB’s integrated solutions within the oil & gas, chemicals and LNG segment.
  • Collaborate with other TSSS across domains (Electrical, Telco, Digital, etc.) and provide technical support during meetings, product presentations and negotiations.
  • Formulate competitive proposals, choosing the best available solution/product mix for each opportunity assigned.
  • Ensure bids and proposals are well documented, timely, detailed and accurately costed.
  • Collaborate with extended stakeholders (Project, engineering, product, leadership) and ensure all risk review processes, assessments and approvals are adhered to and documented in proposal preparation.
  • Translate customer process needs into a coherent control system architecture (DCS/PLC/SCADA/SIS), integrate electric, automation and digital layers, and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE/API/ISO and segment‑specific codes.
  • Prepare technical proposals, compliance matrices, solution descriptions and value‑engineered alternatives aligned with industry best practices.
  • Work closely with sales, engineering and product teams to ensure proposals are competitive, accurate, process‑aligned and fully compliant with customer specifications and sector‑specific requirements.
Qualifications
  • Engineering degree in Electrical, Controls, Automation or related field.
  • 12–15 years of experience in automation and control systems across industrial and energy sectors.
  • More than 8 years’ experience coordinating and delivering complex bids & proposals, including large multi‑discipline tenders.
  • Extensive exposure to Power Generation, LNG Regasification, Water and Wastewater.
  • Extensive experience in proposing and managing retrofit / modernization projects.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, fast‑thinking and effective problem‑solving skills in challenging tender environments.
  • International, cross‑BU and cross‑division experience with the ability to operate effectively in multicultural settings.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in local language.
  • Collaborative, skilled in managing tasks, organized and highly motivated, with the ability to work within tight deadlines.
