Job description
SENIOR SPECIALIST NURSE, OPERATION THEATRE
  • Provide advanced perioperative nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures in accordance with clinical standards and Post Basic competencies
  • Function independently as Scrub Nurse and Circulating Nurse for various surgical specialties
  • Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during operative procedures, ensuring smooth workflow and patient safety
  • Prepare, check, and maintain operating theatre environment, surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables
  • Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques, infection prevention and control measures at all times
  • Perform accurate surgical instrument, swab, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
  • Monitor and assess patients’ intra‑operative condition and elevate any clinical concerns promptly
  • Ensure proper handling, cleaning, sterilisation, and storage of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of perioperative nursing care and procedures
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and clinical support to junior nurses and theatre support staff
  • Participate in training, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of best practices
  • Support emergency and after‑hours surgical cases, including on‑call duties as required
  • Comply with hospital policies, professional nursing standards, and statutory requirements
