A leading engineering firm in Southeast Asia is seeking a seasoned Sales Manager to drive its business growth in Malaysia and beyond. The candidate will develop and implement robust sales strategies focused on production enhancement and well intervention services. Responsibilities include managing key client relationships, overseeing the tender process, and fostering a high-performing sales team. Applicants should have 10-15 years of sales experience in upstream oil and gas, with proven success in achieving sales targets. Proficiency in English is essential, and knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
The candidate will be responsible for leading and growing Ocean Vantage’s business in Malaysia and the wider Southeast Asia region, with a strong focus on wells, production enhancement, and well intervention / well services.
This role will drive sales strategy, key account management, and business development activities for services and solutions including (but not limited to) e-line, slickline, coiled tubing, hydraulic workover (HWU), drilling-related services, intervention, and production enhancement technologies. The incumbent will lead and develop a high-performing sales team, manage the full tender/ITB process, and build strong relationships with national oil companies (NOCs), international oil companies (IOCs), and major service companies.
The ideal candidate has 10–15 years of sales experience in the upstream oil and gas sector, with a strong technical background in well intervention and well services, and a proven track record of achieving sales targets in Malaysia and/or South East Asia.
Develop, implement, and continuously refine the regional sales strategy for Malaysia and South East Asia in line with the company’s overall business objectives.
Identify, target, and develop new business opportunities in production enhancement, well intervention, and well services across existing and new markets.
Own and deliver on annual sales budgets, revenue targets, and profitability goals.
Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to proactively adjust sales plans and offerings.
Build, maintain, and strengthen long-term relationships with key clients including NOCs, IOCs, independent operators, and strategic partners.
Proactively identify and develop new accounts, alliances, and strategic partnerships to expand market share.
Conduct regular client visits, technical presentations, and executive-level meetings to position Ocean Vantage as a preferred solution provider.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and exhibitions within Malaysia and the region.
Lead and manage the full cycle of ITB/tender processes for Malaysia and SEA, including opportunity screening, bid/no-bid decisions, pricing strategies, and commercial negotiations.
Coordinate closely with technical, operations, finance, and legal teams to develop competitive and compliant tender proposals.
Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality submission of all bids, proposals, and pre-qualification documents.
Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and conditions in alignment with company policies and profitability targets.
Leverage technical background in e-line, slickline, coiled tubing, HWU, drilling, intervention, and production enhancement to understand client requirements and propose fit-for-purpose solutions.
Provide technical input and guidance during bid preparation, client meetings, and project kick-off.
Support troubleshooting, post-job reviews, and performance improvement discussions with customers, working closely with the operations/engineering teams.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales and business development team within the region.
Set clear KPIs, monitor performance, and provide regular coaching and feedback to team members.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Identify training needs and support professional development to enhance the team’s technical and commercial capabilities.
Ensure all sales activities, proposals, and contracts comply with company policies, HSE standards, and relevant laws and regulations.
Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and provide regular forecasts, reports, and market intelligence to senior management.
Uphold high ethical standards in all business dealings and promote the company’s reputation for integrity and reliability.
Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
Deep understanding of upstream oil & gas wells operations and the regional market landscape.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills (written and verbal).
Ability to think strategically while also being hands-on in execution.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and customer focus.
Proficiency in English is required; Bahasa Malaysia and/or other regional languages are an advantage.
Willingness to travel frequently within Malaysia and the South East Asia region.
