Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Senior Quantity Surveyor located in Melaka, and Kuala Lumpur for an International construction company. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing project costs to ensure value for money while meeting quality and legal requirements. Day-to-day tasks include preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), cost planning and reporting, budget control, and collaborating with project teams to monitor and manage costs effectively. The role will involve supporting contract negotiations and ensuring cost efficiency across projects.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and submission of budgetary estimates from tender drawings, Bill of Quantities for all disciplines and costs estimation, progress claim, variation order, evaluation of claims, etc.
• Prepare award of contracts, check contract documents and recommend contractor's valuations.
• Accountable for pre and post-contract management, monitoring materials and construction cost, site valuation, variation order, and final accounts.
• Assist in operational matters on contractual issues and any other contracts administration duties related to QS.
• Monitor on amendments to the scope of works and conditions of contract, variation order and apply an extension of time if necessary.
• Acquire quotations from contractors and suppliers for purpose of cost assessment, analysis, or budgeting.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with the finance department on payment-related matters, monitoring monthly projection of cash flow, physical report for an ongoing project.
• Attend site valuation, site measurement, and regular meetings when necessary in KL, Ipoh and Melaka.
• Prepare/verify payment certificates and finalize final account of projects.

Requirements

• Candidate must possess a Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Professional Degree, in Quantity Surveyor or equivalent.
• Have experience in bridges, roads, buildings, hospitals.
• Willing to work at the construction site at Melaka as and when needed.
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office application, AutoCAD), Glodon is advantage.
• QS post for both Pre & Post Contract works in Building Construction.
• Knowledge of construction methods, costing summary, and materials budget handling skills.
• Proactive and able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
• Able to prioritize and respond with an appropriate level of urgency.
• Highly reliable, and confident with handling data.
• Able to communicate in both languages of Bahasa Melayu and English (Mandarin language is advantage).
• Able to work in Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Melaka, Malaysia.
• Preferably candidates who can START IMMEDIATELY.
