Job description

The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and execution of complete automotive seat systems in accordance with Adient engineering standards and customer requirements. This role serves as a technical interface with customers and internal cross-functional teams to deliver robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective product solutions. The position requires strong engineering expertise, program execution capability, and the ability to balance cost, quality, performance, and timing objectives throughout the product development lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities

Engineer in product design with good communication skills to work on vehicle complete seat systems. The engineer will provide technical customer interface for the program and/or product and must demonstrate the ability to plan, organize and deliver engineering program requirements.

Responsibilities include executing robust designs, manufacturing feasibility, high quality drawing releases, prototype parts and production parts.

Unique Challenges include balancing multiple requirements from differing internal functional groups, Subject Matter Experts and the customer to find optimized technical solutions to meet objectives such as costs, performance, timing, and launch.

Help prepare documentation and gather data for engineering ESO signoff. Exposure to the product development process and interact with Subject Matter Technical Experts (COEs) throughout the assignment.

Support issue resolution and on-time execution for DV & PV testing phases by coordinating test timing, seat builds, and teardowns. This exposure allows for acquisition of knowledge in seat regulations, strength, durability, and tactical planning.

Support customer and DV/PV test builds. Exposure to Design for Assembly and Manufacturing (DFAM) principles. Gain understanding of the interaction between design and manufacturing in product development and key cost drivers.

Acquire knowledge in Design for Cost to evaluate various engineering design changes in CAD while at the same time understanding the cost impact of those changes. This enables the team to assess the impact of changes in the ideation phase while still understanding a high-level cost impact of those changes.

In charge of VAVE to meet target saving for every year.

Job Requirements

Bachelor degree or above with a major in Engineering or Technical field

Min. 5 years of work experience in Engineering related function

Strong product knowledge in automotive components or seat systems.

High proficiency in CATIA software

Good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and product development cycles.

Experience in Project Management and cross-functional coordination.

Knowledge of DFMEA, DV/PV testing, and engineering validation processes are an advantage.

Proficient in MS Office and engineering documentation systems (e.g. Lotus Notes or equivalent).

Chinese language (spoken, read) is an added advantage, but not a must.
