Job description

The Senior Product Development Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and enhancement of the company’s product range across both OEM and OBM businesses, including metal parts, cabinets and storage solutions, acoustic pods, and smart furniture. The role spans the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to testing and production handover, with a strong emphasis on cost‑effectiveness, quality, and manufacturability. A key responsibility is leading the evaluation and integration of electrical and electronic components and accessories into our acoustic pods and smart furniture ranges, in collaboration with suppliers and technology partners. On the OEM side, the role supports customer enquiries through technical assessments and project management. Success requires close collaboration with cross‑functional teams to deliver innovative, high‑quality, and sustainable solutions that meet evolving market requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Lifecycle Support
  • Design and develop new products and enhance existing ones, with a focus on innovation, usability, and sustainability.
  • Execute end‑to‑end product development activities, including concept design, new components & accessories scouting, prototyping, testing, validation, and production support.
  • Assist in maintaining the product roadmap by providing technical input on feasibility, cost, and timelines.
OEM Customer Support & Project Execution
  • Support OEM customer new product enquiries by preparing feasibility studies, cost estimates and technical proposals.
  • Manage prototyping, testing, and design iterations, ensuring products meet specifications and customer expectations.
  • Coordinate the smooth transition of approved designs into mass production.
  • Work with suppliers to source and qualify new raw materials, components, accessories and smart control systems.
  • Provide technical guidance during supplier discussions to optimise design, performance, costing and manufacturability.
  • Support procurement in evaluating technical compliance and supplier capability.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to ensure designs are practical, cost‑efficient, and aligned with production capabilities.
  • Provide technical support to sales and marketing during product launches and customer enquiries.
Market Research & Quality Assurance
  • Conduct technical benchmarking of competitor products and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Establish and validate quality check parameters during prototyping and testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues throughout the product lifecycle.
Reporting & Documentation
  • Create and maintain accurate BOMs within ERP system, ensuring alignment with procurement and production processes.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, test results, and design records.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and deliverables to the Head of Product Development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electronics, or Electrical. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • 5–8 years of experience in new product development, preferably in the furniture or metal fabrication industries.
  • Strong technical skills in product design and CAD/3D modelling (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience with embedded system hardware and software integration in consumer products, including control systems, actuators, sensors, and power management.
  • Familiarity with international sourcing, quality standards, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent project management skills, with proficiency in project management tools; PMP or equivalent certification is an advantage.
  • Fluency in Mandarin to coordinate with Mandarin‑speaking clients/partners.
